With a whole week dedicated to Nurses, it is an amazing time to let special Nurses that have impacted our lives, know they did, and recognize them during National Nurses Week.
Pampers Swaddlers announced that it’s #ThankYouNurses campaign would be a program that celebrated the essential role that nurses play during the most amazing moments of a new parent’s life. The first few minutes, hours, and of course days, of newborns and their parents getting to know each other.
This is the first annual Thank You Nurses campaign with a partnership from the (AWHONN) – Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses. and they are honoring three amazing nurses across three award categories of; Labor & delivery, NICU, and Postpartum. Each finalist was selected to be honored with a short documentary video that showcased their unique and amazingly inspirational stories.
The Grand Prize winner, Anne Gallagher, was acknowledged by Pampers Swaddlers, for her dedication to her community to making life better for babies and new parents. She will be featured in an upcoming Pampers ad placement for AWHONN. Anne is a nurse at University of Illinois Hospital, and focuses on empowering moms to form special bonds with their newborns. See Anne’s video and story HERE.
I know that with the birth of my son, Davin, my labor & delivery nurse was my advocate. She was there through the process of me freaking out, asking questions, making sure my wishes and plan were addressed and that I was comfortable both during my labor pains, giving birth, and my transition from labor & delivery to my room for the next few days.
In those mere moments, she was my advocate, cheerleader, and best friend. I’m sure every woman who came through the doors, thought the same thing. I only met the Doctor, within the hour of giving birth, but my delivery nurse, was there for every moment, encouraging me along the way. She helped me get my first latch for breastfeeding and encourage skin to skin. I may never be able to give our L&D nurse Lauren the thanks she deserved but she is forever praised in my heart for making my first delivery, an amazing one!
