“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the TB Blood Test. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.” All thoughts of this test are personal experience I want to share with my readers as a caregiver for my Mother.
Tuberculosis. We hear about it in the news once in awhile. An outbreak in a school perhaps. What is it? Tuberculosis (TB) is a very highly contagious air-borne disease that can be transmitted through the air via coughing, sneezing, or even speaking closely to someone who is infected. Truth be told, over 30% of the world’s population is infected. On many missions trips my church goes on, it is required to be tested.
Currently my Mother is ill and her last long visit that had her admitted to the hospital, my son and I slept in the room the first night with her. To my surprise the next day she was put in “Isolation” and the nurses apologized. Apologized for not thinking sooner about me and my son sleeping in there all night. Normally I would not stay overnight but my Mother was scared. She did not want to go to this particular hospital but the emergency response team advised it due to five o’ clock traffic. I wanted answers.
When I returned later that day and was required to wear a mask, I knew I would be antsy waiting for answers. The only thing that calmed my nerves was that they were now doing the TB Blood Test. The test for TB use to be a skin test which would at times give false positives and take days to get answers. Looking for signs via a bump in the skin is not very reliable.
With the new TB Blood Test you can have answers within a day. As my Mom no longer has an immune system, getting answers faster and more reliable not only a time saver but a life saver. Having to keep my son away from his Nana until results were back was heart breaking but thankfully it was not too long before he could return to see her.
This test is becoming more and more popular among dentists who are very close to the mouth (remember air-borne), teachers, students, elderly, and even young children. It only requires a very tiny amount of blood to be drawn. 3ml of fresh blood to be exact. This is the same amount for any patient regardless of age or immune status. There are also no cross reaction side effects to worry about as the old skin test would have at times. You can have results in just one visit, or if at the hospital, just one day.
I encourage you and your family to learn more about the TB Blood Test and how to take proactive actions on being tested efficiently and without false positives.
