When there is something you are passionate about, you tend to get a little erratic and throw caution to the wind. You want to stand up for what you believe in and hope no one else has to go through the hurtful words, shaming, or consistent debates on what is proper or improper when it comes to feeding your child. I threw all caution to the wind and mosquitoes to do this photo shoot and I am darn proud of it.
With the help of my friend Monika Begdouri from Mona Paris Photography in Tampa, FL and some beautiful necklaces, I bared myself in the nature preserves of Lettuce Lake Park in East Tampa. We picked secluded areas and even had a very helpful Park Ranger who was cool with it all. I hope you enjoy.
“You are strong. You are beautiful. You are a Mother. Protect your young and give them all you can. You are doing great!”– Mommy By Nurture
The past few weeks I have seen everything from people bad mouthing feeding in public, to companies refusing to print breastfeeding photos, to just rude and ignorant comments from people who think it is a disgrace. Sorry to say, wait no I am not! I was going to say I was sorry for something I believe in. I am not. Every nursing woman has THE RIGHT TO FEED THEIR CHILD! Most of the United States of America has laws protecting nursing mothers. Even Facebook had to pull the stick out of their rear ends and face the facts that breastfeeding is NOT considered nudity.
If I ever see a person in public try to put a nursing Mother and her child in a nasty restroom or to cover up, they will not hear the end from me. It is much easier to advert your eyes than to try to shun a nursing mum and her child to a filthy area or corner. These photos are more than you would see from me while nursing but they are all still protected by the law in the state of Florida and across most of the United States. Why should we feel like we are being punished for choosing to feed our child as our body was intended to do? Most of us want to just feed our child, keep them calm, and enjoy our own meal or outing with the family.
There is a massive list of things that disgust me and I don’t wish to see while out to eat or running around town, but it is not my place to inform those people of my distaste. If they are comfortable in their own skin then let the nursing mother be too! I will not feel condemned for doing what is right for my child. Every nursing mother at some point will face someone who says or does something ignorant. Stand strong Momma! I got your back! Breastfeeding is BEAUTIFUL! Embrace the amazing gift your body has given you as some would give anything to have the ability to do the same. You are strong!
The beautiful necklaces you see can all be found online and are created by some amazing companies I love and adore!

We are proud to say that we were counted at The Big Latch On 2014. We did not break the world record this year but we came close! Every Mom should be proud of their accomplishments and stop hating on other Moms who don’t do things the way you do. Stop the Mom Wars! Love each other and lift each other up! Being a Mom is hard enough without the constant battles from the one upping each other. Be proud of what YOU can do for YOUR child and embrace THAT! If you see a Mom having a hard time, SUPPORT HER!
