Welcome to the new Monday line up! Bumday Monday! Named with the help of my friend Heather O. who is having her second child soon and comes to me with cloth diapering questions galore. She has made fun of me since before my son was born with my addiction to cloth diapers, the prints, the brands, and everything in between. Guess who’s laughing now? I warned her that she would be missing out if she wanted to cloth for baby number two.
Prints get discontinued, new brands emerge, and new products become available. Brands are forever changing and improving things. This is NOT your Grandma’s cloth diapering! I will be featuring more cloth diapering reviews and articles but BumDay Monday is not about a full review. It is about showing the types of diapers that are out and about and ready for you to find either in stock or on a buy/sell/trade group if it is a hard to find (htf), disco (discontinued), or limited edition.
Cloth diapers are almost like a baseball card trading game for Moms. The brilliance of these cloth diapers, unlike the type used years ago, is that they are pretty! You can reuse them for multiple children, and match them to outfits. Even better? When your child hates clothing at home, like my son, you can still feel they are sporting some fashion in their cloth diapers. I feel I am on the normal spectrum when it comes to my purchases.
I have a few limited editions, a few hard to finds, and paid a little over retail for only a few. So join me in the world of cloth diapering addictions, where the women find out about new releases and hover over the computer in hopes of being one of the first to own. Limited editions are becoming a common thing in the cloth diapering world. Moms will pay big bucks for what they really want. Heather has been looking for a few prints already that were released this past year and are no longer available from retailers. Only the B/S/T groups will have them. You can only have them if you want to pay the asking price. Black market diapers is an understatement! Another friend of mine offered to trade me some hard to find swaddles, too bad that is not my addiction.
THIS PRINT is my most coveted diaper right now. I have two. Yes, two. Why? It was released while I was still pregnant with Davin. I knew I wanted it bad. When I felt the heat was on with it disappearing from retailers, I bought one. Fail. I bought ONE at the retail price of $19.95. My husband and I loved it so much that we wanted another. I found in a B/S/T group a lady in the UK who was offering to order and ship. This was a risk I was willing to take. So for a few pennies over double retail at around $40.00 I coughed it up. We made this decision based on wanting a cute photo shoot for siblings when we have number two. Don’t ask me what we will do if we have three kids. I did not think that far! (Pay triple?) lol.
So please let us all bow down to the coveted and very highly sought after “Jules” from bumGenius. Jules is from the “I’m a Genius” series that has diapers created after great people in the past. I’m sure you will see a few more of these within my line up! This diaper certainly does not get worn as much as it should for how much I love it. Maybe because I don’t want it to get completely worn out before baby #2 shows up? The second diaper is still new in package, safely tucked away, awaiting a fresh bum to place in it. This particular diaper is a bumGenius 4.0 Pocket diaper. Just to be clear, neither Jules is for sale! I know, I know. Heartbreaking.
So what’s on the bum today? What are your most coveted cloth diapers you own? Make sure to sign up for our emails and follow us on Facebook and Twitter to never miss a cloth diaper post that will feed your addiction!
