DoTERRA Essentail Oils Start kit Review: Lavender, Peppermint, & Lemon
When I reached out to local Moms to find some of the newest products on the market, I had heard of essential oils, everyone was jumping on what I considered some “band wagon”. Little did I know that two of these three oils would change my life in a big way within a few weeks. The starter kit comes with an informational DVD and three bottles of oils: Lavender, Peppermint, and Lemon. Now at no time did I use them internally. I am still a complete amateur to the oils even after a few weeks of use. I am however, a believer now and will continue to learn more through the representative.
A little bit about the representative and her own thoughts:
“My husband is the reason I started with DoTERRA.
Let me start by saying there are many uses for the lemon, the most common that I could come up with was household cleaning. I am not an overall fan of lemon but do not let that sway you from trying! I want to highlight the items that really just threw me into a frenzy of wanting to learn more and use constantly. The lemon when used in spray or scrub format left a nice clean scent, just reminds me of pine sol or furniture spray. I’m the girl who always says “No Lemon”, therefore I am not the best candidate to try to incorporate it into my daily life.
Let’s talk peppermint! I learned a hard lesson. Not once, but twice! Peppermint is serious stuff. I managed twice to rub my eyes before getting it fully off my hands and let me tell you…it burns! I will also state it is a freaking miracle that something we can equate to flavoring in most cases, can help someone like me who gets migraines that leave me in near paralyzed form on the shower floor. Cassandra walked me through some steps to turn peppermint oil into a quick fix that even over the counter migraine medication could not beat. Mixed one drop peppermint with one drop lavender and rub on temples (don’t rub eyes anytime after lol) I did this and sat with my pinched nerve neck to the hot water in a shower. By the time my shower water had run cold and I laid down for five minutes after, my migraine was gone!
I have had migraines keep me out of commission for up to four days straight in fetal position! I have used this 3x and each time it worked. I even had my mother try it and not only did it help calm her so she could do her breathing treatments without pain but it helped her to lay down and rest better!
Now to my absolute favorite thing I have learned from this starter kit. Lavender. My new best friend. Let me show you a photo of my son passed out. Like hard core knocked out at eight months and teething, seriously, FOUR teething coming in the top at one time…
No, I did not knock out the husband or the dog, they go out willingly. My son Davin though, tends to fight sleep, cry in pain, and cause me to cry in tiredness. Lavender oil!!!! The sales advocate advised me to put some on the bottom of his feet and behind his neck. At first my husband thought the scent was too strong, is it OK, does it have side effects, you know, typical worry wart Daddy. By week two he was asking me if I had been use to put it on our son if my son was not falling asleep well. I sometimes have to be reminded by him on the weekends when our schedule is changed up to do it! It never fails. Within 10-15 minutes of applying it to our son, he is calmed down, had a little milk, and passes out. He even sleeps longer in the mornings and wakes up in a better mood.
I tried it on and off for a few weeks to track progress and the results of using it nightly far outweigh not using it! My son even expects it after a bath by holding his feet up for me or rolling over after I do the feet so I can get his neck. I think he clearly knows it makes him feel better. I have been advised that I could use it on the gums as well, but I am a bit chicken to put anything in our mouths yet! Maybe in time.
To sum it up I think Lemon is perfect for anyone who really loves the scent. Peppermint is a miracle alone or with the lavender. I have even used it under my nose to wave bottle back and forth and calm my breathing when stressed. The Lavender is a must have for Moms! It is something you should have in your arsenal for sanity and piece of mind! I really am excited to learn more about the other 60+ essential oils offered averaging about $10 each. The company as a whole even offers skincare, vitamins, and household cleaning products! You can of course search on social media and Google for even more opinions and reviews of this company and their product.
I received this starter kit to facilitate this review. All thoughts and opinions are that of my own and may differ from yours. While this is a post of OPINION from me and FACTS that occurred with my experience it is just that, MY EXPERIENCE. The company itself did call me and ask that I remove any photos and trademarks of their products that may not be in like with the FDA regulations, therefore, you will need to facilitate much of your own research to learn about the company and brand. I AM NOT A SPOKESPERSON or SALESPERSON FOR THIS BRAND!
