Fitness Routine Tips for Busy Moms-
New year. New Me. Bullshit! Everyone and their Mom is getting in to a new fitness routine! Here I am, still the same stressed out woman I was last year but this year I have goals!
I was a gym rat in many different stages of my life. The Winter Woman in me certainly has not seen the locker room or cardio floor of my local gym in months. With a tough schedule and wanting to keep my New Years Resolution of more family time and less work, I had to figure out a way to get back on the wagon.
Guess what still won’t leave me alone? Bladder leaks! Those pesky droplets of urine that I have tried to blame not doing enough kegels for, they don’t care if I go to the gym, have fun, or sit at home! They want to disrupt my life. I’m done.
Don’t get me wrong, I won’t deny the fact that I do kegels at every red light I come to while driving! Can’t hurt right? However, my four year old has me locked down time wise. No school yet means we have to do things together! Our big family goal was less stuff…more adventures! (I have no doubt this will lead to even more bladder leaks!)
Want to know something else I found out was a trigger to my bladder leaks? Cold snaps! No joke! My family and I went on a Winter adventure in temps of 9 degrees, betcha bottom dollar this chic was kicking herself for not using her Finess product!! So I knew if I was going to keep my confidence doing my favorite things, I had to keep a few Finess SoftPatches in my purse as well as my gym bag!
The first thing I did was get in to two Diet Bets. It’s a website that you can challenge friends or unknowns, in a challenge to lose 4% of your body weight within 28 days. No cheating as they have photo referees. You are essentially betting on yourself. If you win, you get all your money back. If you lose….winners split your funds! Motivation right?
The next thing I did was start taking daily walks with my son around the block, saves us over 30 minutes of time driving, getting in the car seat, and hoping machines are available at the gym. Don’t get me wrong, I am heading back to the gym but right now I am trying to find some ounce of self confidence in what that Winter Woman and her holiday cravings did to my body!
When my son takes a break, I do a set of push ups. As we get in areas that there is no traffic, I do some lunges while I push the stroller.
I knew without a doubt if I could adjust my eating habits, challenge myself, and get back into a fitness routine of some sort even on the busy days, I could take charge of my life again. Even at my own house, I can hang a heavy blanket outside and pretty much get the same boxing routine in that I would at the gym.
The fact that even someone who can barely find time to spend with friends, can fit in a fitness routine without being able to get to the gym, means anyone can! One last quick tip, when you do run errands, park as far away from the store as you can (unless it’s raining lol). I take each opportunity to get in a little fitness that I can, so I can spend more time with my family!
