With Halloween being a fun time for treats these Halloween cookies are sure to be a fun hit! Older children can help assist with decorating and the end result is a sweet and delicious treat that brings on the Autumn festivities and Halloween spirit of fun with yummy goodies.
Ingredients: Nilla Wafers, Betty Crocker Bakery Icing (Orange icing, Green icing, and Black icing)
*You can also utilize your own white frosting with coloring and tips if you have at your disposal.
Tools: Icing tips. Betty Crocker sells some that match the icing packs at the grocer. Butter knife,
- Use a dollop of orange icing and spread evenly across the Nilla Wafers
- Using the green icing and a “leaf” tip, creating the pumpkin leaf
- With the black icing and a “writing” tip create your pumpkin cookie face
- Let sit for a few minutes for icing to firm
- Seal in a container with loose wrap over for storage
A few tips: You can utilize different types of icing, tips, and pastry bags if you are unable to find these exact items. I personally love this 14pc pastry set that has a reusable pastry bag! I found that sometimes the pressure required on these specific containers do burst under pressure and lead me to using my own pastry set. I love the ease of them and the taste though!
This is a fun activity that children ages four and up can easily enjoy helping with.
