I think at some time or another everyone has played with wooden blocks of some sort, something about moving them and building things with them makes it one of the most classic toys ever.
Alex Toys, sent the Maxville Blocks for me to review, they are so awesome! I love that all of the blocks are not all square but instead include different shapes and cut outs to make kids love to build all kinds of different things. They are double sided with glitter accents as well, not your old school style wooden blocks!
They can create so many neat and imaginative things with these blocks, buildings, people, animals, things that only the kids can think of. I think that anything that makes kids think and imagine is always a good bet.
Some toys do one thing and if the child is not great at the one thing the toy gets tossed to the side, these, the only thing stopping kids is what they want to do, or even things they don’t want to do. If they love animals they can build those instead of houses like traditional square blocks.
I loved the sparkly patterns and bright colors and the fact that they are made with real solid wood, means they will be around for a long time to come. No cheap plastic breakable blocks in this set. They are solidly made, and that is worth a lot these days when most kids can break toys in a day or so.
I even liked that the blocks were striped, chevron, and some had patterns on them to entice the kids to build with them and to break out of the box of other blocks. I thought it would inhibit them from playing with them as sometimes they want things uniform but it really lead the way in letting them think of new things.
If you have kids that love to build, or you are looking for a first set of blocks for a little one, check these out over at Alex Toys, the Maxwell Blocks have the seal of approval from this mom during the holidays!
