I am doing laundry non stop in this house. I have a toddler and a husband, along with my Mother and myself. We do a lot of clothing, bedding, and fabric items! I have to admit, until I was sent Downy, from P&G and SheSpeaks, to test out and talk to you about, I had never before in my life, used a fabric conditioner!
The first thing I noticed about Downy, is that is smells fantastic! It lives a fresh scent you want to just cuddle up next to. I had been afraid for a long time, to use anything with scent, with allergies and sensitive skin. However, Downy has made that fear disappear. I first used it on our flannel bed sheets and immediately felt a difference in the way the fabric felt. It was as if the Downy Fabric Conditioner was rebuilding the damage that regular washing had done to it! It was so soft against our skin.
Here are some leggings not done with Downy, pilling in the legs already and fading a bit. Then the same material in a top, washed in Downy- vibrant black, no pilling, and no issues! My black items are the hardest to keep long term but now I have faith in giving them proper care!
The fact that I can grab this any time I hop over to our favorite 24-hr retailer, Wal-Mart, makes it a perfect addition to our family wash routines. My son’s clothing is softer, my dresses feel like silk even when they aren’t, and our most prized items, blankets to cuddle with, are becoming even softer but with less wear to the fabrics! Downy actually helps your clothing and fabrics bounce back to their store bought form without losing shape! The colors resist fading from constant washing (Because let’s be honest, your favorite items get worn and washed the most!)
I went to Wal-Mart and wanted to try a test. I bought a towel for my son and a towel for myself. I washed his with our detergent and Downy, I washed mine (the purple) without Downy. After (5 washes) his is still vibrant and touch, mine looks like it is starting to fall apart and get rag like textures! Threads are already coming undone! The difference was IN THE WASH!
I am seeing our towels coming out with the new wash routine, including Downy, to haves less pilling, which leaves residue on your skin after you get out of the shower or pool. The fabrics become softer while still maintaining the strong fibers!
One item I tried that I was so scared to put in the machine, even on the lowest cycle, was a hand made family heirloom, my Grandmother did for me. It actually came out soft, vibrant, and even more beautiful! Blankets that we have only had for two years are showing way more wear and tear over this vintage piece!
Make sure to treat your apparel and fabrics with the love they deserve. If you want to keep them from the normal wear and tear and enjoy them longer, grab some Downy Fabric Conditioner at your local Walmart and Walmart.com- always everyday low prices! You can shop for it here.
