See these pretty rides? They were both bought in a 24 hour time frame, we had the trade in process to deal with. I bet we could have kept more money in our pockets, had I known more about car shopping at the time.
Just ask anyone, they will tell you that my family rarely stays with the same vehicle for too long. Since I met my husband we have rotated through eight vehicles in seven years. I am all about knowing how to save time car shopping. It is essential as a busy Mom that I get the most bang for my buck and am not sitting around with the hassle of a dealership for six or more hours (been there, done that, refuse to do it again).
After tons of hours in the car dealerships, online researching, and price negotiations, I am sharing my best tips on getting through the process without a headache and really being able to save time car shopping.
Do Your Research
Research will include knowing all the current information about your car loan terms (if you are still in a loan), how much you can afford as a down payment, your credit score, and what types of vehicles you are looking at. Knowing what you want will keep the search much shorter. Consider if you want new or pre-owned, seating capacity, and safety features.
Ask your family and friends, what they recommend. Don’t go shopping blindly as it will more than likely end up being an impulse purchase. What if you could get more by selling your vehicle through an APP? What if you were paid a bonus for listing your first vehicle for sale? You can truly make money before going to purchase a new ride and probably get more than you would with a trade in!
What can you do without a sale pitch down your throat?
Every year over 28 million people sell their cars as trade in deals to dealerships and are losing thousands! Now with amazing technology, we have Blinker- the first ever mobile app that puts you in control of buying and selling. You can actually do everything from buying to selling and even refinancing your current vehicle with just a few photo snapshots on your phone!
While Blinker is currently available in Florida, California, Colorado, and Texas, it is saving consumers an average of $3,000 (buyers and sellers included).
In the market to sell, buy, or refinance? Currently Blinker is offering $200 when you list and sell a vehicle, purchase, or refinance through their app and use code MNAB when signing up. Would you get $200 for selling your car on Facebook Marketplace? NOPE!
I can’t even tell you how many letters I get in the junk mail after I have traded in a car only to have other dealerships still looking to purchase my car. It never fails, after a few months of owning another vehicle, every dealer is looking to buy my prior car.
Be confident in your choices
Too many times at a dealership they will only look at your budget, your trade in, and walk away multiple times to “crunch numbers” and find you a deal that “may” fit your budget. Possibly with an extra down payment, losing features you really wanted, or with less financing options so your interest rate is ridiculous. It feels like a trap most times you walk in to a dealership and the vultures jump on you.
Take time to figure out exactly what you want and what fits with your family, your budget, and your needs. Closing the computer is so much easier than trying to escape a dealership. More often than not you are losing tons of money on your trade in as they can only put it on their used car lot or send to auction. They work on commission so they start lowing the prices an they start losing their income. There is only so far they can go before it is useless to “help” you get what you would truly think is the best price.
You also get a “professional car salesman” trying to sway you in to vehicles they are overstocked on, are in contests with their peers to sell the most of, or have the highest commission for themselves.
The options to purchase on Blinker are increasing daily! Just look at some of the beauties I spotted in my local area.
I actually recommend selling your car through Blinker and going in with no strings when purchasing your next vehicle. The moment you drive a new car off the lost, the value depreciates. What if you could save thousands without the pressure just by shopping on your smartphone?
