Let’s be honest. Nothing is more vulnerable for a woman that putting her face out on social media without feeling like she has her face put on. Let us add that now days, using a filter helps accentuate the attributes we truly do love about ourselves. This is where I bare all and get naked. With my face that is.
When I found out about the 20 Days of Olay Study to be able to share my experience from start to finish, I was filled with anxiety about sharing photos with nothing on my face, then I was also excited to see if a brand my Mom loved and used daily, would make me have confidence in my naked face as well!
The 20 Days of Olay Study starts with you uploading a snap shot of yourself with no make up to the Skin Advisor app at https://skinadvisor.olay.com on your mobile device. The Skin Advisor will then do an analyzation of your color, eye lines, wrinkles, and all those other pesky areas we try to hide from. It will giveyou an age estimate and then give you specific product recommendations for your skincare needs. Next, head to Walmart to get your items and start your own personal 28 Days of Olay Study!
Are you ready for my bare, oily, red, problematic eye area face? Here goes nothing!!
Once I submitted a photo, I was advised to get the Ultimate Eye Cream (go figure, I swear I have circles, bags, and every other issue under the sun from lack of sleep and chasing a toddler!). I was also to grab the Regenerist Regenerating Serum. I was excited about the serum because it is gel based not cream and slated to be non greasy while absorbing fast!
After a week, I felt like my skin was feeling more supple and having the natural moisture without the oily glow I was constantly trying to wipe away. I did not feel like I felt a difference with my eyes at this point but I did feel that my make up products were going on much smoother around my eyes!
By week two (14 days) I was really stepping in to my routine. I tried not to put make up products on unless I was doing photo shoots or meetings, to let my face just breathe a bit. The dryness and splotchy appearance of my skin was now feeling moisturized when I woke up and before bed. I was applying both products twice a day. I even seemed to be clearing up from a skin allergy I had on my chin, is this stuff helping to avoid breakouts and blocking gunk from going in to my pores?!?! Not sure, but I’m liking how my skin feels and now I almost think I am seeing a little firmness to the lower area of my eyes, you know the pesky area!
Hot dog! The weather is being really pesky with high pollen counts, My eyes want to tear up a lot, I am sneezing non stop, and I just want to rub my face until the itching stops. Can we get some rain around here!?!? Thankfully I am not rubbing make up in to my face and because both products are absorbing fast, I am able to keep my morning and evening routine pretty simple.
Now I see why so many celebrities had been embracing the naked face! Life is much easier this way! I may be in my early 30’s but life has taken a toll on me already and I’m not going to resort to crazy needles in my face when I can see if this 28 Days of Olay is going to assist me if I stick to the study!
By week three, I am pretty happy with progression, the Ultimate Eye Cream does seem to take longer to see results than the serum but I think they are also working hand in hand. I also hate sticking my fingers in jars so I have a brush I set aside to apply the Ultimate Eye Cream and just rinse it after each use. The color of the Ultimate Eye Cream made me nervous at first but it goes on completely clear, I was thinking it would be almost like concealer that I would have to blend in, thankfully the color is a bit deceiving.
With just a week left in the study, I am already back at Walmart reading the backs of all the other products and doing research. No wonder my husband’s Aunt is addicted to the Olay products, she swears by them for her skincare routine, seeing as we are over 20 years apart in age (as was my Mom and I) I am breaking that barrier of thinking Olay is for older ladies, I am realizing that proper skincare needs to start early on to actually work because you can not reverse the process of aging but you can slow it down! Now I’m kicking myself for not starting a skincare routine years ago!
I also want to say that I did not get the fragrance free Regenerating Serum because I wanted to see what the regular smelled like. I am pleased! I love how my face feels the moment I apply it and the scent is calming and fresh! A little goes a long way!
So here we are, day 28 of the 28 Days of Olay Study and I feel more put together. I feel a little more sassy and vibrant. I may actually keep using the Ultimate Eye Cream and the Regenerist Regenerating Serum in my routine. The only other skincare product I used the whole month was a spray mist to freshen up my face or to lock in my make up and my face wash. I had put everything else to the side, promising myself to commit, and to be honest, it was so much easier to get in to a skincare routine than it was a work out routine!
When comparing cost to other companies, you are getting a whole lot of product for a lot less out of pocket and I have tried eye creams that are $12-$20 more expensive and heaved them in the trash when they didn’t give any results after 3-4 months! If I can slow down the aging process in my face to look the way I feel, then I am all for it!
I almost feel like my eyes have widened up a bit, at least my make up is easier to apply. I want to say that my red areas of my face have toned down and overall I feel more supple in the cheeks and around my lips. At the end of my weekly journey, my absolute favorite update I can give, is that my face is not oily daily like it was (apparent in day one photo, eww!) The Regenerating Serum really helped take care of that nuisance that kept me blotting my face daily! It doesn’t matter if I wear make up or go fresh faced, the disgusting war of battling the oil is not nearly as traumatizing as it was before when I used regular SPF moisturizers!
