I sit back looking at my friends list on Facebook and realize the years that have gone by. I can remember things from age 17 sometimes better than I can remember things from last year! I am a book full of advice, lessons, and mistakes beyond belief, but where it it come from? I figured a little timeline for those who have not been with me on the journey would really open up a little window into why I am able to jump into so many discussions without batting an eyelash.
Age 15: Left public high school to homeschool and started as a full time live out nanny for a single father with his two children after their mother passed away.
Age 16: (Started at 15) signing in a lot of girl groups…back then boybands were super popular!
Age 17: Got my license and first car and graduated the homeschool program. Got my first “real” job at Dominos Pizza. Lasted two weeks before Papa John’s that was closer offered me .50 more an hour! Yes! Big time now lol
Age 18: Started college the first time and ended up quitting after I turned 19 due to some strange professors that I could not understand. Math is already hard, speak English when you try to teach it please! Worked part time at two daycares for a bit and then I also got sassy with the manager at KB Toys Outlet and he liked me so much he hired me to become head cashier. They closed up within a year of course.
Age 19: Moved out for the first time too. Big mistake…big big big mistake. Also got my first “big girl job” at a swimsuit company. Ended up their standards and customer service were lacking, they tanked by 2005 (This is 2003 when I am 19) but they had some gross habits and boy do I know some dirty secrets!!! (Literally) I also moved again but this time to be a live in nanny for the same family I started with at age 16! The dad had to start dating and the girls needed some guidance lol.
Age 20-22: Kind of a blur but worked at the swimsuit company, Got super fit and became a neurotic gym rat and started modeling…also had braces prior to this. Braces as an adult really stinks (Please don’t remind me I am wearing bottom ones again due to a screw up by them as I type this!)
Age 22-23: I was the assistant manager of Frederick’s of Hollywood. That was an eye opener. Realized how trashy some people are and how often people cheat alongside the fact I worked at the lower end mall in town and we dealt with a lot of shoplifters.
Age 23-24 Managed a hair salon in the same mall. Would have stayed around a lot longer if one lady did not make me want to burn her hair off…still dealt with shoplifting but this time from my own employees or clients getting out of their chair after a service and trying to leave without paying!
Age 25: Got baptized the day before my 25th birthday and got my first tattoo the next day! (Never say never!) I also returned to college as a dance major after falling in love with figure skating. I had made some crap shoot list around my birthday of over 100 things to try or do..let’s just say I got on the ice in November and was at a national recreational competition by May taking 1st in all three of my events. I was slamming my head in the books hard too taking a full course. Then I got injured. This was my 2nd and probably last attempt at college.
Age 26: Mad at the world. I left Florida for New Jersey to stay with a friend I had met online who was like an extra mom figure to me. Lived with her for two months while working for Ashley Furniture in Edison. Then moved to another city and roomed with my supervisors mom when my first New Jersey family was moving out of state. Returned after four months. Met some amazing people. One of those people was Daniel Polny. He was a gem and best friend. He passed away a few weeks ago and he makes me really smile in moments of sadness knowing he lived his life to the fullest and to make others smile.
Age 27: Full time independent representative for Herbalife. Dropped weight quick and felt great but then met my husband and well you know how that goes lol. Got engaged to him. Started working at Alfred Angelo and it was the most miserable job I had ever had in my life. So thankful many of my co-workers got out, just one more needs to escape!! Got in my first car accident…please don’t text and drive it makes you stupid and will cost you a lot of money in insurance. (her fault not mine)
Age 28: Got my 2nd tattoo, a friend from a message board designed it for me and it means the world to me. Planning a wedding. Got married.
Age 29: Working from home again (Been doing eBay on and off since I was 17 with my grandmother) also worked full time for awhile at a day care through the holidays. After leaving the day care took on another nanny job with a precious child I was teacher of but very interesting mother to say the least. I had to terminate that friendship and service after awhile and it made me sad but it was best as we had found out during the time I was pregnant with our baby boy! Currently standing at age 29 (or sitting as I type this) Waiting for our first child to arrive and launching this site.
I’m sure (no, I am fully aware) I left out a LOT of details like the fact I could sell anyone anything by age 6. That I have done a lot of marketing, copyright, and promotional stuff through the years. A few other odd nanny jobs I would rather not mention (Why do I always get the super creepy or weird parents lol) and a lot of life lessons in dating, friendships, and reality.
Some of my friends have known me since I was in elementary school. Some met me this past year. Either way they may never know my whole life story, back story, or future story. I can only put out there what I feel is appropriate to share.
