THANK YOU TO COMBI FOR BEING A PART OF OUR 2014 MOMMY & ME BIRTHDAY BASH!
I was “That mom” who had to have a travel system for my newborn. Little did I know that once my son could sit up and wiggle around we would need a good umbrella stroller. I questioned my readers and fans on what they wish they had or what they currently loved and I got many coming up with the Combi name! Combi was so wonderful to send me the Combi Cosmo umbrella stroller to facilitate this review.
All thoughts and opinions are that of my own and in no way have been influenced. A big misconception for the name “umbrella stroller” in some stores, is that an umbrella stroller is an easy pop open stroller that your child can sit in. What they fail to have is an actual umbrella to protect your child from the sun! No baskets for toting your on the go gear and many times lacking the most desirable feature for a Mom on the go, a cup holder! Combi has all your essential desires wrapped up into this Cosmo umbrella stroller.
Combi has you covered with their Cosmo umbrella stroller. We received the royal blue color. I was excited to pull it out of the box. I am one of those who hands my husband the directions to put things together, this time he took the camera and had me fend for myself. The only items you need to put on yourself are the wheels and the cup holder (which we did not use at this time). The instructions guide you through the easy steps of putting the wheels on and letting you know how to lock your wheels, adjust the seat, and how to fold it up in a snap!
The biggest concern you would need to make sure you take care of when closing is locking your wheels and folding your umbrella back before closing it up. A favorite feature when not in use, is that it stands up! I can put it out of the way or even in our doorway and it does not fall over or need to be leaned up against anything.
I had this bad boy ready to roll in under five minutes and was impressed with how easy it folded open and closed back up! I have given you a few close up photos of the functions you need to read about (closing lock latch, handles, and sliding pieces on handle for closure). The biggest reason we needed a good umbrella stroller is for our upcoming first family vacation! Our personal birthday bash on the high seas! You don’t get much room in your cabin to stow away big things and we needed something that we could take off the ship in the Ports as well. Functional was key but so was the essentials I mentioned: basket, cup holder, and umbrella top!
We took our Combi Cosmo on two full day adventures and as you can see, Davin approved. My husband got a kick out of how he can use the strap to carry on his shoulder, which makes getting through the security lines when traveling easier. You can’t push a stroller up or down stairs so being able to carry it without dragging it or lifting it in a weird uncomfortable position was a selling point for him. Exactly how you see the Cosmo folded up on my husbands shoulder, is how it looks and stands up for storage!
My son was cozy, I love that is has a 5pt harness, the wheels turn on a dime, and if my son falls asleep, we can adjust him accordingly. The biggest selling point for me as a Mom, the weight and space it takes. I was lugging a rather large stroller around prior that took up my whole trunk and I could barely lift with my shoulder injury. I can throw this thing in the air if I wanted. It also has my son covered until 55lbs, Seeing as he is not even 20lbs yet, we will get a lot of use out of it.
I am very ecstatic that the whole seat pad is washable. Once kids are older they want their drinks and snacks at the tray and they are not always so clean about it. For now, we didn’t use the tray because Davin equates that to “jail time” and feels like a prisoner. You can see by the photos he was “Maxin’ and Relaxin” in his new ride and enjoying every moment!

My husband is notorious for whining the whole way through the IKEA store, it seems to be bigger than a mall to him. We took Davin for his first trip and this stroller was perfect! It fit in the narrow aisles, allowed me have my hands and arms free to carry all our goodies, and even had space for his new friend “Mini Davin” to ride with him!
Normally I would carry my son on adventures like this but that would require us carrying him and the diaper bag. We did not have to do either and he could get a view of all the amazing goodies in the store. I am excited to use this each week now on our outings with how simple it is to use and only being 15.5lbs I can carry myself without pain. I am even more excited to tour our favorite spots in the Caribbean with it this November!
I do love that Combi also offers you the option to buy parts separate should you need them on their website. They have offered this amazing quick product demonstration video as well. The Combi Cosmo umbrella stroller comes in Black, Red, and Royal Blue and retails for $129.99 with free shipping on the Combi website with any order over $50!
