I had not been in a Chuck E. Cheese establishment in probably nearly 12 years. Prior to that, I was in there nearly daily as my employer while I was a nanny, worked there as their game tech. To say I had my fair share of pizza is an understatement. The girls I watched were astounded when I cooked thinking pizza was their only dinner option with a single father. I loved the pizza back then so I was quite curious about the new thin & crispy pepperoni pizza that Chuck E. Cheese was unveiling. I wanted to see if their establishment could fit my approval for family friendly dining. Right now their pizza beat Pizza Hut in a national taste test!
My tastebuds have changed a lot as an adult and I am very picky about the pizza I choose. My husband would eat cardboard if it looked like pizza and my kid hates too much sauce. We were in for a surprise to find out that much to my surprise, Chuck E. Cheese pizzas are never frozen. In fact, they are made fresh, every day in-house. They even make the dough in the store.
There is one exception to this, their gluten-free pizza which comes prepackaged as to ensure the safety of their guests with allergies. Including these options is a huge step for garnishing the attention of Moms and even many kids with gluten allergies.
They grate their own mozzarella cheese fresh and the sauce is made with vine-ripened tomatoes. All the vegetables are locally sourced and guaranteed fresh. I can vouch that the salad bar was small but out of this world! I had two heaping plates of yummy goodness!
Each pizza is made to order so it can take a little bit to get delivered to your table but it is worth it. Still cut up in small kid friendly slices so nothing gets wasted and a dream to look at, we were excited to dive in.
The new adult geared menu is pretty in depth and much more in tune with what a Mom wants for dinner as well as Dad but still offering the same fun treats the kids loves….pizza! The thin crust surprisingly was not a crunchy wafer of crust (which my husband was worried about) it has some depth but not overly done which would then fly in to hand tossed territory of thickness. The whole family loved it from the first bite to the last. It was fresh tasting and so filling.
Chuck E. Cheese is not just for weekends and special occasions anymore. A family of four can have a fun dinner night out for under $35 including tax which includes a new thin & crispy pepperoni (or other toppings) pizza, four drinks, and 30 tokens for the kids. My toddler had a blast with all the kid friendly rides and photo booths. I know we will be visiting again and learning more about the games they offer, and hoping to see Mr. Chuck E. Cheese himself next time!
