I have been a cloth diapering Mom since my son was born. A lot of trial and error came in to play, learning the best way to cloth diaper and avoid leaks or how to gauge the right fit. Disposables are my worst nightmare. I love cloth diapers so much that getting a new diaper is like a present! This is why I am so honored to say that GroVia cloth diapers is a brand I had never tried before and here I am reviewing it for you. Not only that, but they are allowing me to give one cloth diapering Mama the same exact items as well in our Mommy & Me Birthday Bash!
I am aware of bamboo prefolds, since I started my cloth journey I had heard nothing but great things about the GroVia bamboo prefolds. I had used bamboo as inserts before but just recently starting using them as a base liner within a cover. I prefer more organic baby products such as bamboo, as bamboo is better because it is hypoallergenic, softer than cotton, breathable, and it wicks moisture from baby’s skin. They come in a four different sizes and can be used as inserts, to lay in the diapers as the liner itself, or with a Snappi to be worn alone. So versatile and hold so much liquid! The quality of the bamboo prefolds from GroVia are out of this world. Now I know why they are so raved about in the online message boards!
One must know, that to get maximum absorbency for natural fibers you will want to wash five to six times before using. I threw them in with the normal cloth diaper wash and they were ready for me after two weeks. I wash every three days if you need the math.
GroVia is well known for their hybrid diaper shells for cloth diapering. I think the term “hybrid” always threw me for a loop and confused me more than necessary. It is meant to be eco-friendly. All cloth diapers are, but this really has some bang for it’s buck! You can use prefolds, snap in soakers, or even disposable soakers. You are able to reuse the shell multiple times before washing. This means you carry less on your day to day outings and vacations and less laundry!
The designs and colors are plentiful and the new limited edition Wee Gallery prints they released are to die for! I am a die hard fan of cute prints and these do not disappoint.
Functionality is a breeze. I am already accustomed to rise snaps and snap diapers as they are pretty much all I use. I really liked the way the GroVia hybrid shell fits around the waist and legs. To be even more of a shocker, prefolds seem to be thick, but the whole overall package is so trim! The fit around the legs is perfect for my on the go boy. My son is on the trim side compared to many babies his age so being able to bring the snaps in all the way and still fit great was amazing.
The hybrid cloth diaper shells also come in a hook & loop closure for those who do not want to work with snaps. I prefer snaps as they give me a sense of security of not walking in on my child with his diaper around his legs by undoing it himself.
The pair of items together were crazy absorbent and we had no leaking issues. I had triple folded the prefolds to fit within the shell and even after three hours it did not soak through to the bottom. My husband loves that if there is a #2 incident he does not have to dig out an insert from inside another layer of fabric.
The hybrid shell is now a must have in my collection as well as more prefolds! Overall, I am glad I finally found prefolds I like and give the dryness my son needs with the sensitivity to his skin. This system is so easy to use even my husband can manage. Well, after I showed him how to fold the prefolds! We both agree, this is by far the trimmest diaper we have in our stash!
