Let’s get real here. No one enjoys the process of teething children. Sure, it’s cute that they have some sharp objects popping through their gums and now can learn to chew food. That is about all that is cute about the teething process. The pain and suffering really does outweigh the good. Biting? Check. Drooling? All over. Crying? A lot. Miserable? Quite often. Stuffing fingers or hand in face? When do they not? Teething SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
I might be a little more bitter on the topic since I still breastfeed. Davin is about seven months and has had two bottom teeth since three and a half months. I remember him pushing my finger in his mouth and the shock of me feeling something. There they were. Razor sharp little buds of teeth! This was the beginning of the suffering. I tried Tylenol a few times. It helped on the really bad nights but made him groggy. I disliked that. Teething necklaces work great during the day, but are not meant for sleeping in usually. At least most come with warnings not to. Let’s not even touch base on the argument I got into with the Pediatrician. Let’s just say the few days my son went without a necklace he was a rabid little drooling monster and gave me dirty looks.
I hate the feeling of numbing a child using Orajel. I used this once or twice on really bad temper nights. I was coming to a stand still on night time solution. That is when I heard of Balm! Baby Bye- Bye Teething, Hello Sleep! It retails for $9.95 at most places and I ordered it from Dream Diapers during a free shipping period. Figured I could try it for that price! If you order some please say Nichole Arnold sent you when you check out! You won’t regret placing an order and will even get a free sample of something fun to try! Shipping is FAST!
Now back to the product. This 2oz bottle is made of glass with a glass dropper. It is natural, safe for newborns, made in Hawaii, and is ORGANIC! All the ingredients are organic: Distilled water, vegetable, glycerine, catnip, and chamomile. Yes, I said catnip! Here is the thing, I try all medications or remedies I offer my child. I want to know taste and if it makes my mouth feel weird. This product I can’t put my finger on it, honestly, I have tried it three times to try to figure out the taste. I want to say overly ripe pears? At one time it tasted like these Austrian Christmas cookies my Mom use to make with cinnamon and jam. Either way, it tastes decent. The husband approved too!
You can give 2 full droppers at a time, multiple times a day. I have only used it for nap time and bed time and one dropper full has done the trick. I put half on one side of the mouth and half on the other. My child LOVES IT! He slurps it down and licks his lips! We have used it for four days/nights now and it is not even 1/8 empty. The value is really there! Extra points for being able to recycle the bottle!
I have included two photos, one from nap time, and one from night time! This baby is passed out! Normally I give him the dropper full and then a little boob time. He pats my chest, eyes flutter, a cute smirk, and then BAM! Out like a light. WORTH THE TRY IN MY OPINION! My child does wake up in the middle of the night to feed but sleeps much longer in the first period of time. It use to be that I was lucky if I got 2-3hrs. I now the past few nights have received 4-6hrs before he wakes up hungry. Come to figure, he was not just hungry, he was sore in the mouth! I will say it over and over…WORTH THE TRY!
