I am an artist at heart. I shouldn’t be left alone with glue of any sort, but painting is something that always was a favorite activity of mine growing up. I admit, I may not be great at painting, but I still enjoy it! I remember my Grandmother and Mom having to pull out newspaper to cover the table, cups to clean the brushes, and lots of paper towels. Or the water color paint that never seems to be thick enough for a child’s desire to give the color you wanted.
Either way, painting is a right of passage as a child. The messy nightmare is what keeps most parents from allowing it to be an activity that is done often due to the massive clean up. Now that problem with the tiniest in the household is not an issue with the Splash Art. We were so kindly sent this Splash Art from PlaSmart Inc to facilitate this review. PlaSmart is a sponsor in our Birthday Bash 2014 celebration! All thoughts and opinions are that of our own. Splash Art is a Reeves + Jones item from PlaSmart Inc.
“PlaSmart Inc. is a global toy distributor specializing in smart, simple, toys and games. PlaSmart began its journey to worldwide success with the introduction of The Original PlasmaCar in 2003 and today its products can be found in more than sixty countries on five continents.
PlaSmart’s innovative and quality products have won numerous and prestigious toy awards. The company focuses on toys that develop motor and dexterity skills, balance, creative and imaginative play, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills and, of course, entertainment. PlaSmart is proud to work with toy inventors and designers who share its vision.”
The first thing I should mention is that this toy is geared for 12+ months of age. Davin is 10 months so we had to help him a little more than if he was of the proper age. I think he enjoys it even with the extra supervision. The Splash Art retails for about $19.95 but offers hours of endless fun. Whiny kid in the back seat while traveling? This toy is an excellent way to entertain them with an activity not usually an option while on the road.
Super easy to use right out of the package. All you need to do is fill the stylus with water, wet the tip, and secure the cap back on. The Splash Art is reusable over and over again. Providing vibrant colors with each design. No mess! My son slapped his hand in to my artwork and we let him play the whole time in the bed! No spills, no stains, and no worries! The only rules are to make sure the tip of the stylus is wet before starting and have fun!
There are two sides, so while one side dries to reuse, children can draw on the other side. Since there is no mess or staining they can sit the Splash Art on their lap with no worries. It is light weight and has a carrying handle. The stylus can be stored on either side of the Splash Art. The wonder and amazement that comes from seeing the colors come through the “paper like” screen is beautiful. The drawing surface actually feels almost like a lightweight canvas paper. Drying time is not long at all either. Less than 10 minutes and the first side we drew on was ready to be reused!
This is a great gift idea for birthdays and holidays! Not only will it entertain the youngest in the family, but the oldest too! You can purchase your very own Splash Art to enjoy with the family!
You can view an array of great toys for all ages at the PlaSmart Inc. Website.
