Have you been sticking to your New Years resolutions? It’s the beginning of Spring. If we are going to be honest, I fell off in January, before the end of the month. I now know WHY I fell off the wagon. I didn’t find my motivation or my willpower when others did. Well, why not?
In January, a bunch of friends were all jumping on this Diet Bet bandwagon. Lose just 4% of your body weight and you can win back your money and then some (from all the people who did not make their goals). I thought, “4% is really simple with how much weight I want to lose”. However, that was not the case. I gave up easily. I figured $50 was a small price to pay, to not care.
Looking back, I could have spent that $50 on a new dress, new shoes, two new outfits for the gym, the list goes on. Giving up and not sticking to your New Years resolutions may have led you to the same demise. So, what was a girl to do about it?
The craze sweeping the nation (I swear, at least half my female friends on Facebook are doing it) is the Ketogenic Diet. There is quite a bit of research and statistics, upon tons of message boards, to teach you the process but point blank, high fat, moderate protein, and minimal carbohydrates.
I lost 10 pounds in the first week! The kicker…you shouldn’t be doing too much cardio while on the Ketogenic Diet, you should however, be doing strength training. With this, you need to make sure you are hitting your macros on your protein. A gal can get sick of fish, chicken, pepperoni, etc. While the diet itself will help curb sugar cravings, having a sweet tooth is natural to me. This is how I started investigating Premier Protein, protein shakes that don’t limit your tastebuds!
With Premier Protein shakes having 30g of protein and a huge variety of flavors, utilizing one for breakfast or lunch has simplified my protein macro tracking a ton. They even offer vanilla and chocolate organic options.
I’ve cut my gym time in half by being on the Ketogenic Diet, spending more time with my family, and losing weight! One of my favorite features on the Premier Protein website is there selection of high protein recipes and ideas to change up your meals and get more protein in. You can find the products in many of your local stores or order online.
While your fat content is low (and many people enjoy that) it is also good to be able to hit your protein levels without using up your fat macros in the Ketogenic Diet. Use those within your other meals and snacks. I really enjoy having the Premier Protein shakes after my strength workouts or grabbing in the morning if I have to run out the door before I am able to cook a proper breakfast.
With tracking my macros, finding tasty protein, and finding my WHY to motivate me to lose weight, I am finally finding success. If you’re having trouble sticking to your New Years resolutions, I encourage you to look in the mirror and ask yourself, “How bad do I want it?!?!” then focus on what reasons you want to achieve your goals. For me, I want the opportunity to have a healthy pregnancy after miscarriage. I want to be able to run outside with my son and not feel winded after five minutes. I want to not see the word “obese” at my next appointment.
No two people have the same goals or resolutions. Just because five friends want to lose weight or gain muscle, does not mean you are on the same journey. Encourage each other, celebrate each milestone and every victory. Support each other. Friends don’t let friends feel like rabbits on diets….a little chocolate protein shake may just keep them on track!
