Summer is almost here and the urge to cook out is already on my mind! I just had to bust out the fun and create this Fizzy Sunset Strawberry Cocktail for my cook outs. Are you ready to Upgrade Your Summer?? I invited my best friend to come over while we tested new recipes in anticipation of all the gatherings we will be throwing this season.
We went straight to Walmart to pick up some of our favorite cook out ingredients, including 7UP® and Johnsonville Original Bratwurst. While she got busy creating our favorite beer brats, I started working on a way to bring my love of strawberry cocktails to life in my own backyard.
I love using the iconic lemon lime 7UP products. Always made with the highest-quality ingredients. Whatever the flavor, every can is crisp, clean, and refreshing. This is going to be your base for the “fizzy” part of this cocktail and mocktail recipe.
I am obsessed with serving my cocktails with frozen fruit cubes. Easy to create by chopping the fruit and freezing in the alcohol of your choice. For my Fizzy Sunset Strawberry Cocktail you will want to use your favorite rum to freeze the fruit in. I gave mine a special touch by using heart shaped ice cube trays. If you are using these in the mocktail version of the recipe, freeze in water.
As someone who often is creating a selection of food for my friends who follow the keto diet plan, we love that Johnsonville Original Brat is not only Gluten Free, but made in the USA, and made of premium pork from US and Canadian farms. The company has been family owned since 1945. It’s a brand we trust to serve to our friends and family. Grilling them after boiling in beer give it an amazing taste you could only imagine getting at a restaurant!
While serving up a meal is always appreciated by the ones you invite over, creating a beverage for special events makes it extra special. I never want to leave the kiddos out, so this recipe can be done as a mocktail as well.
What you need: Tall glass, stirrer, rum of your choice, strawberry margarita/daiquiri mix, fresh strawberries, (water if creating mocktail)
Prep your ice cubes by chopping your fresh strawberries and freezing in rum or water depending on drink creating. Freeze for 4-6 hours.
In your tall glass mix;
4oz strawberry margarita/daiquiri mix
(From the ice cubes you created, put 4-5 in each cocktail)
The best part, the ice will melt rather fast and you have delicious fruit to drink with your cocktail.
To make this a mocktail, nix the rum. **There is no alcohol in mixers such as the strawberry mix**
